FC Dunărea Călărași is a Romanian professional football club from Călăraşi, Călăraşi County, Romania, founded in 1962. They currently play in the Liga II, Seria I in the 2015–2016 season after finishing 1st in the 2014–15 Liga III. ==History== In the 1988–1989 season, Dunărea Călărași has played in Divizia B, and after they relegated. They came back in the Second League and played in 1995–1996, 1996–1997, 1997–1998. In the 1997–1998 season, Valeriu Petrescu was the coach was and the Chairman was the mayor Nicolae Dragu and the club president was Constantin Sima. The main sponsors of the team were the mayor and the city council. The best performance of the team was registered in the Cupa României, in the 1991–92 Cupa României edition. Dunărea Călărași played in that season in Divizia C, the Romanian Third League, and they would reach the Quarter-finals, being eliminated by Politehnica Timişoara, a team from Divizia A by 1–0 win at Home and 0–2 lost Away. In that edition, Politehnica Timişoara played the Cup Final against Steaua București.
